The only linear video equipment in-house is BETA SP (2-channel audio only). We do not have DigiBeta or any other video playback capabilities. If you bring a BETA SP tape, we will digitize it before the start of your session. Please provide any BETA tapes at least one day before your session, so that we can digitize your video. Working from VHS tape is not recommended due to timing irregularities. If your video is on DVD we will have to extract it to a Quicktime file prior to your session.

We would PREFER that you provide your video program in Quicktime format. Your file can be uploaded to our ftp site (contact us for instructions), or you can burn a data CD or DVD and mail it or bring it to Baker Sound. The specs for the movie file are as follows:

VIDEO

FORMAT: QuickTime movie (.mov or .mp4)

CODEC: Some Quicktime codecs will not work in ProTools. DO NOT SEND MUXED FILES! The following codecs yield the best results:

SIZE: 720x486 (better quality) or 360x243 (standard quality)

AUDIO

If your existing audio track is fairly simple, you can include it when you create your Quicktime movie. We can extract the audio from the QT movie into ProTools and then add any additional audio you require.

If you have numerous audio edits, or if you have added other sounds that you would like us to incorporate, you should provide an OMF file which you can export from AVID or FINAL CUT PRO. Please refer to the documentation for your video editing software. For example, the following settings should work for AVID delivery:

under OMF/AAF OPTIONS
Export as: OMF
Leave "Enforce Avid compatibility" & "Quantize edits to frame boundaries" unchecked (to include volume & pan automation).

under AUDIO MEDIA OPTIONS
Audio Format: AIFF or SDll
select "Copy from source media"
